The ash wood has an average density of 0.69 g/cm2, hard and strong at the same time. Has very good properties of resistance and high elasticity.
Botanical name: Fraxinus excelsior
Other advantages are that it is shrinking but it is not very durable if is exposed to warm or harsh weather. It can dry naturally with no problem but should avoid exposure to high temperatures. Wit the ash wood the people are working very easy. The wood can easily be beaten by nails and glued. The ash wood cand easily be polished. It is resistant to alkalis and acids.
If it is a demand of elasticity, the ash wood is the best. It is used to make tool handles. Compared with beech wood, the ash wood is most important for the production of bent shapes. The wood color is yellowish white and closes to brown.

- Radial: 0,17…0,21
- Tangential: 0,27…0,38.
Brinell hardness 38 N/mm2.
The ash wood was used as decoration in trains, trams and cars.
