After 3 years of consecutive lost, the profits for the forestry industry have reached 500 millions dollars in 2010, in Canada.
The analysts are expecting an increase for 2011. The Canadian softwood has replaced for the first time the softwood from Russia to China in 2010 and the construction of houses is retaking progressively in USA. Despite a slow beginning, the analyst of Conference Bois Canada, Jacqueline Palladini anticipates a new increase of the profit. On the other hand, the new president – general manager of the Board of forestry industry from Quebec, André Tremblay, reminds the fact that companies have reduced their capacity of paper production.
According to him, Quebec will have to support financially the recovery of forestry industry in order to clear up the investors’ negative perception.
