The project that consists in building a wood pellet mill to generate heat generates different reactions.
The harbour Bayonne-Tarnos intends to purchase a wood pellet mill, but the local wood industry does not totally agree with the project. The company German Pellets was founded in 2005 and it`s head office is located in Wismar. Today, the company owns 8 mills on germane territory, near to the forest massifs. The entire production’s capacity reaches ~1 million tons.
The company has shown it’s interest in France. The sells manager, Mr. Charrouf has begun the research over the construction of a wood pellet mill before Klaus storm. German Pellets would invest 35 millions euros on this wood pellet mill. The wood would come from Landes, where the quantity of fall wood is very big at this moment. But, on long term, this one will not be the only resource of a raw material. The wood found in the region of Pyrénées-Atlantiques will be also used.
On the other hand, the consequences of Klaus storm and the insects’ attack would generate, on a long term, a strong resource’s deficiency.
