The second seminar of IRRQ (Institut des régions ressources du Québec) has stipulated a future more positive for the forestry industry, in comparison with the one from the last year.
Adam Lapointe, the manager of IRRQ has compared the actual situation and the one from the last year. Thus, the conclusions of 2009 seminar were discouraging and it was expected for a decline regarding the productivity, social acceptance and government’s general interest for the wood industry. At this moment, forestry industry will take again an important place if suitable means are being used.
A notable progress is represented by the agreement with lots of important groups regarding the social acceptance. Concerning the forestry productivity, this one is still not well developed, but they are making progress in genetic selection of best tree species.
One of the subjects discussed at the seminar was the use of wood in constructions. Adam Lapointe has talked about the wood as being the product that “best responds to the environment’s demands”, which cannot be compared with steel or concrete.
