In the forests from Boulonnais there is lot of wood, but less valued because 80% from the trunk of the trees cut every year become firewood and only 20% become DIY or furniture. This was declared with the occasion of the forum, which has as a theme the opportunities of development of the wood industry in Bolonnais.
The forests that are met here are diversified: there are oak, ash, bird cherry or pine tree. At this forum it was discussed the problem of valuing the wood in order to design it for the construction of wooden houses that are in great demand. The purpose is to cut the forests, but to cut it with saw, to dry and to build in this sector. “There are no sawmills in the sector” says Daniel Parenty, the vice-president of the agglomeration comunity.
This will be realised in time, but, waiting for this project to produce results, the forests owners (50% from the forests are private) can enjoy the price incresing for the firewood.
