It is about a project that has as a purpose the economics release of the Haitians communities that have been hit by the recent earthquake. For that, the forestry industry from Quebec has associated with the Cooperation for the International Development Society and with The international development of the gardens.
The forestry industry, represented by Forestry industry Board from Quebec, next to the others partners, is endorsing the construction of 2000 permanents houses which respects the rules against the earthquakes.
Another objective consists in boosting the way of living by the creation of new places to work and the consolidation of local capacities.
It is obvious that we cannot talk only about a rebuilt of the habitat. It is need a global solution that offers a permanent habitat for the population. This initiative has been received in a good way by many other companies and institutions from Quebec.
The stimulation of a local entrepreneurial, the facility to the access of a good home, the support for the municipal authorities and the development of a financial mechanisms, all these are part of a series of the project strategies.
The city of Jacmel represents a privileged spot for its realization, that is estimate to last over 5 years. Demarches of the governments from Quebec and Canada are in process in order to put into practice this initiative.
