Kronospan, the Austrian wood-processing group, estimates sales of aproximately 70 mil. Euro for their factory in Brasov. The plat was just opened last week, after an investment of 200 million euro. The factory produces OSB used in the construction industry, and will reach a total number of 500 employees in the near future, in comparisson to the current 270 employees.
„OSB compsumption has grown in the last decade from aproximately one million m³ to 3.5 million m³ per year.
There is still an enormous potential for growth, both in Romania and throughout the region, in countries such as Bulgaria, Ukraine, Turkey. (...) Basically from 2006 to 2007 the market has doubled. The trend will remain upward in Romania and it will boost the consumption of OSB boards, "said Oana Bodea, communications director of Kronospan Romania.
OSB boards are used in classic constructions, packaging and building materials and also in domains that used traditional plywood or timber.
Products obtained in the plant in Brasov will be sold to wholesale dealers, specialised shops etc both on the local and international market. Oana Bodea said that deliveries will be made "according to demand”.
The main international destinations will be Ukraine, Hungary, Turkey and Bulgaria.
The largest plant owned by Kronospan in Romania is one in Sebes, which recorded sales of 194 million euros last year (over 714 million lei). This year, Kronospan Sebes estimatea sales similar to the ones recorded last year. The number of Kronospan Sebes`s employees was constant last year: 506 employees.
Apart from factories in Sebes and Brasov, Kronospan also owns a factory in Constanta.
