Three ministers of the Charest government have lobbied in Ottawa, to make more efforts to help the forestry sector and workers in the industry. Labor Minister, Sam Hamad, urged the Government to help Ottawa keeping all proportions comparable with that which was granted the automotive industry in Ontario. He evoked the possible upgrading of plants in sectors with the highest value added.
The same message was also delivered from the Minister of Natural Resources, Nathalie Norman, who called for Quebec what it considers to be fair to do, reference to efforts to cars in Ontario. He pointed at the same time investment of $ 200 million for forestry jobs and 30 million for forest roads that have already been announced, which qualifies it to be the first step for forestry.
Finally, the Minister of Economic Development, Clément Gignac, reminds the forest crisis on the national scale and that it affects not only Quebec Ottawa He accused that they had a passive attitude and said he expects the federal government to do so much more for this case.
