The majority of companies members of GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) are renegociating their contracts for this year, thus creating oprtunities for the Malaesian exporters to introduce their new products on the market, announced Khairul Anwar, director of the Malaysian Timber Council – MTC.
According to him, the Malaesian timber exporters have long wanted to enter the Middle East market, due to the financial crisis which appeared to have struck regions from Europe and the United States.
PFL, fibre boards and furniture are the most sought after products in the GCC, he declared, adding that Red Meranti and other species of wood from Malesia have been considered sustainable construction materials, compared to nord-american and european species.
“Our solid wood floors, industrial flooring and laminated parquet HDF have become the most popular choises in building hotels, offices and private proprieties, in GCC”, declared Khairul at the end of his visit to Dubai, Qatar and Bahrain.
