Furniture retailer Staer International plans on reducing its imports in 2009, while increasing production in its plant from Galati, up to 85%.
Last year Staer recorded sales of 26.8 million euro, in comparisson with 2007, when sales reached 30.44 million euro. This year the company intends on increasing production in its own factory, located in Galati. By the end of 2009, 85 of Staer`s portfolio will be represented by products manufactured in Galati, declared Claudiu Buduruta, company manager.
Thus, the company will import only 15% of its products to Germany, Denmark, China and Greece, which is half the quantity imported in 2008.
In February 2000, Staer opened a new showroom in Brasov, covering a surface of over 4000 m². By the end of 2009, the company will open 4 new centers in Braila, Tg. Mures, Bacau and Focsani. The total investment is estimated at 2 million euro.
Staer owns one production unit in Galati, divided in 9halls, covering 39.000 m². currently, the company owns 27 stores located in large and medium size towns, nationwide. There are 710 employees in the retail and production sectors.
Staer`s main competitors on the national market are Mobexpert, IKEA, Elvila and Kika.
